Breakfast on the first Christmas for 106 - in 1968.Starting from the left in full view 1. Sgt Geof Suthers 2.? 3.? 4.? 5.? 6. Maj WINS Hicks Hall the first CO, 7. RNZEME Capt Don Baker, 8. Lt. Jim Hislop, 9. ?, 10. ?, 11. ?, 12. WO Terry Dillon behind the Jump. All the meals were served to all ranks and we went off to our 3 tents to eat. Very primitive.These tents were put up prior to 106 being formed. Most of us were posted to 1 Armd Squadron Wksp and lived in the tankies lines and of course ate with them. In fact I was sent up to 106 and told to get the GE lay-out done and work with the Engineers to place the huts, we later put the machines in and lay-out where I wanted them and which way they were to face. The tent behind the servery is the cooking area. All this was new as, prior to the forming of the unit, we all ate with the Tankies. |
